How to Use ActiPatch: Placement and Daily Wear
By Electrome Corporation · Published September 26, 2026
Position the ActiPatch® loop over the musculoskeletal area where you feel pain. Wear it directly on skin with the included tape or a wrap, or over a thin layer of clothing; avoid thick fabric. Follow the supplied package instructions before use, including the precautions and contraindications.
Step 1: Read the instructions and check the device
ActiPatch is FDA 510(k) cleared (K192234) for over-the-counter (OTC) adjunctive treatment of musculoskeletal pain. Adjunctive means it is used alongside your usual care, not as a replacement for diagnosis or prescribed treatment. Read the current package insert all the way through: it contains the operating steps, warnings and details relevant to the device you received.
Before positioning, look for a damaged loop, loose connection or other visible issue. Check the on/off control and indicator light against the insert. ActiPatch is self-contained and has no app pairing, intensity knob or electrode leads. You do not need to make the device tingle; its intended output is nonthermal and sub-sensory.
Step 2: Position the loop over the pain area
Find the area of musculoskeletal pain you want to address and center the treatment loop over it according to the package diagram. Back, knee, neck and foot positions may require different ways of securing the device so that it stays in place. Do not place it near your eyes or over an implanted electronic device. If you cannot tell what is causing pain, ask a clinician rather than trying to diagnose yourself from placement instructions.
Use included tape or a wrap to secure it directly on the skin, or wear it over thin clothing such as a T-shirt or leggings. Avoid thick fabric between the loop and skin. Adjust clothing and straps so the unit lies comfortably, and follow the insert instead of bending the loop or altering its shape.
Step 3: Turn it on and choose a wear routine
Use the switch and confirm operation by the indicator described in the package. Each device provides 720 therapy hours. Continuous use uses those operating hours in about 30 days; switching it off between wears spreads them over more calendar days. There is no universal promise about how quickly one person will notice relief. Observe your own response without skipping prescribed care.
Choose a routine that fits your activities and the supplied directions. Check that the loop has not shifted after movement or sleep. If you reposition it, turn it off and follow the insert for reattachment. A thin layer of fabric is an option when tape is inconvenient, but keep the loop over the intended area and away from thick garments.
Step 4: Keep it dry and care for your skin
The device is not waterproof. Remove it before a shower, bath or swim, and store it somewhere dry. Do not try to wash or recharge the electronics. If the securing tape irritates your skin, remove it and consult the instructions or your healthcare professional about suitable ways to secure the device; do not continue wearing an uncomfortable attachment simply to add hours.
The battery is an integrated CR2032 and cannot be replaced by the user. Do not take the casing apart or share your device with someone else. Replace and dispose of used attachment materials appropriately. When the available operating hours are exhausted, consult the package for end-of-use and disposal guidance.
When should you stop and ask for help?
Do not use ActiPatch with a pacemaker, ICD or another implanted electronic device. Do not use it if pregnant or if you think you may be pregnant. Seek clinical guidance for unexplained pain, and stop and seek advice if pain persists or worsens. New weakness, fever, injury or other concerning symptoms deserve clinical assessment rather than more time with a wearable.
If you are unsure of positioning around your particular body area, read our condition-specific guides for practical placement context. Those guides discuss pain relief only and do not diagnose or treat the underlying condition. Our product page includes pack details, FAQs and the full store purchase path.
